How SEDRA began
The South East Drag Racing Association was formed in 1990 by a group of like minded enthusiasts and the first meeting was held in the Naracoorte Community Club.
Peter Berry who had been part of the Steel City Drag Club in Whyalla (ANDRA’s oldest 1/8 mile facility in the country) had a passion for the sport so he approached many locals who had modified street vehicles and called a meeting. The first meeting saw over 70 people attend and a committee was elected and the club began to accept membership.
The first closed road meeting was held at the Lucindale 4 mile intersection and it took may hours of paper work for ANDRA and many man hours to prepare the site for “Street Racing”.
The first meeting saw over 3000 spectators which gave the club a real cash injection and the racers really put on a show.
The club now has the only ANDRA accredited temporary facility in the country and hold regular meeting on the Coonawarra Dragway. This is the 10th Anniversary of the Tri Series to be held and it is a great credit to the few people who go to put on the spectacular.
The club is now looking to become a motor sport enthusiast club and not only hold drag racing but many other motor sport activities. So if you have any ideas please use the contact page and let us know.
